What we do.......

MOUNTAIN WALKING DAYS

Northern Exposure Bushcraft is affilliated to several walking groups, and we arrange group walks into the Mourne mountains in Northern Ireland. Sometimes we tie this in with our bushcraft trips away, to give a bit of variety to our weekends. This is a great way to get to socialise with many of our members making our bushcraft family stronger and better connected.

You can keep in touch with our walking groups quite easily and join us as and when you like, intended routes and walking grades and distances are posted so you can choose the walks which best suit your fitness level.

BUSHCRAFT WEEKENDS

Occasionally we organise a few Bushcraft weekends away per year, usually a small group, to practise our skills and generally to get out of the towns and cities. Our countryside is constantly under threat by people venturing into the countryside leaving behind litter and sometimes even cutting down trees and damaging property, disturbing the wildlife and locals living there, This kind of practice is bad for relations between land owners and estate keepers and for our environment.

Northern Exposure Bushcraft would like to encourage the proper ettiquitte and with some guidance and education we can teach others how to use and respect the countryside. Having fun, but leaving without a trace.

All our day trips and weekends are closely organised with the local forestry comission, who work with us and kindly let us use forests and the land for our camping and bushcraft weekends and longstays. It is only by building trust and a relationship with the forestry service, and land owners, that this craft can move forward.

It is theorefore extremely important that the lands we use are left as tho no one was there. Remember - Leave no trace.

EQUIPMENT AND SELF-BUILD

In our site we look at how equipment has changed over the years, and we take a look at how to build your own gear, old school versus modern, its up to you.

On our blog site, we will post various pieces of kit from time to time and links to where you can buy. We will also include reviews on pieces of kit that we think are relevent, 'how to' sections, Including customised gear and tips,  FAQ's and links to other bushcraft websites where you can find some useful information.

We aim to get you out in the back country as easily and as cost effective as possible, by making your own gear or buying it from the best places and the cheapest places. We are not here to promote just ourselves and what is solely on this website, but to link to all sites collectively, so you can find the answers to what you need quickly and easily.

You will find that most bushcraft enthusiasts are quite happy to share there knowellege freely and enthusiastically.

Go well .....
